Guest checkout vs creating an account
Both options work for buying an eSIM on Eflexsim, but they offer different long-term value. Guest checkout is faster if you're only making one purchase and have no plans to top up, refund, or check on the order later. Creating an account is better if you'll travel again, want easy top-ups, plan to use referral or wallet credit, or want a clean expense trail. For most travelers, the account is worth the 30 seconds it takes to set up.
Below: a full comparison of the two flows, the situations where each makes sense, and how to convert a guest purchase into an account later.
What guest checkout is
Guest checkout means buying an eSIM without creating an account. You enter your email, pay, and receive the eSIM by email. There's no password, no profile, no order dashboard.
You can still get a receipt and use the eSIM normally. The only thing missing is the account-side tooling: order history, top-up management, wallet credit, saved cards, etc.
What an account adds
An account costs nothing and gives you:
Order history. All past purchases visible in your dashboard with downloadable receipts.
Top-up management. Add data or days to an active eSIM in a few clicks. See how to top up an existing eSIM.
Wallet credit. Referral rewards, refund-as-credit, and promo bonuses accumulate in your account balance.
Saved cards. Faster checkout next time. Stored securely in Stripe.
Marketing preferences. Choose whether to receive promotional emails.
Two-factor authentication. Extra security on the account if you want it.
Email verification. Confirms you can receive eSIM deliveries reliably.

When guest checkout makes sense
Guest is fine if:
- This is a one-time purchase for a single trip.
- You don't plan to top up or extend the plan.
- You have a reliable email setup and won't lose the receipt.
- You don't want one more password to manage.
In these cases, guest gets you on your trip just as fast.
When an account makes sense
Account is the better call if:
- You travel more than once a year (likely buying a future eSIM).
- You might need to top up mid-trip.
- A friend referred you (you'd lose the referral credit as a guest).
- You're buying for business and want a clean expense trail.
- You want refunds as instant wallet credit instead of waiting 5-10 days for bank refunds.
- You'd use the same card on Eflexsim multiple times.
For most active travelers, the answer is "make an account." The 30-second setup pays back the first time you need to top up or check an old order.
Converting from guest to account
If you bought as a guest and want to create an account later:
- Go to eflexsim.com and click Sign up.
- Use the same email address you used for the guest purchase.
- Complete the signup flow.
- After email verification, your guest orders appear in the account dashboard automatically.
This is a common path. Many customers start as guests, realize they need top-up access, and create an account afterwards. Nothing is lost in the conversion.
The reverse (converting an account into a guest) isn't supported. If you want to remove your account, see how to delete your Eflexsim account.
Limitations of guest checkout
A few specific things that don't work as a guest:
Can't re-download the QR code. If you lose the email, you lose the QR. Support can resend it, but it adds friction.
Can't accept referral rewards. Referral codes credit your account; without an account, the credit has nowhere to go.
Can't accept wallet bonuses. Promotional credit issued by Eflexsim requires an account to land in.
Can't get refunds as instant credit. Guest refunds are always bank refunds with 5-10 business day wait.
Can't top up from a dashboard. Top-ups for guest orders require finding the original email and clicking a link, or contacting support.
None of these is a dealbreaker for a single trip. They become friction over time.
What happens to my email on a guest checkout?
We use it for:
- Order confirmation.
- eSIM delivery.
- Receipt.
- Trip-related transactional emails (data running low, plan expired soon, etc.).
- Marketing emails ONLY if you opted in at checkout.
You can opt out of marketing emails anytime via the unsubscribe link at the bottom of those emails. Transactional emails (receipts, eSIM delivery) always continue regardless of marketing preferences.
For more on email preferences see managing marketing emails and notifications.
Frequently asked questions
QCan I buy as a guest and still get a refund?
Yes. Email support@eflexsim.com with the order number. Refunds work the same way; you just won't have the option to take it as wallet credit. See refund policy.
QCan I top up a guest eSIM?
Yes, but with extra steps. The eSIM delivery email contains a top-up link. Open it and complete the top-up purchase. Alternatively, create an account using the same email and the order appears in your dashboard for easier top-up.
QWill a guest checkout sync to a future account I make?
Yes, if you use the same email at signup. Past guest orders are automatically linked.
QDoes a guest checkout share my email with anyone?
Same as an account: we use it for the order and any marketing emails you opted into. We don't sell or share email addresses with third parties.
QCan I check my guest order status without an account?
Not via a dashboard. Re-find the original email, contact support, or create an account with the same email.
QIs one more secure than the other?
Account is marginally more secure because of optional two-factor auth and explicit verification. Guest is fine for one-off purchases.
