Are taxes and VAT included in the price you show?
The price you see on the Eflexsim plan page is the price you pay. We don't add taxes or VAT at checkout for personal eSIM purchases. The displayed price is the final, all-in amount charged to your card. Business buyers in some jurisdictions (notably the EU and UK) may need a VAT-itemized invoice for reclaim purposes, which we provide on request.
Below: how we handle taxes by region, when something might appear added at checkout, and how to get a proper invoice for business expense filing.
What you see is what you pay
For personal travelers, the plan price is the total. A $10 Japan plan charges your card $10. There's no surprise tax added on the next page or after the order confirms.
This applies to:
- Personal travelers buying for their own trip.
- Tourists from any country.
- Plans bought via the website (and eventually the mobile app).
The reason this works: eSIM data services for tourists are usually treated as consumed-in-destination, not in your home country, which simplifies tax treatment. Where local rules require us to collect tax, it's already baked into the displayed price.
Business buyers and VAT
If you're buying as a business and need to reclaim VAT, the picture is different. Eflexsim transactions can be invoiced with VAT itemized if your jurisdiction requires it. The process:
- Complete your purchase normally at the displayed USD price.
- Email support@eflexsim.com with your order number and your business's VAT registration number.
- We issue a VAT-itemized invoice in PDF format, typically within 1-2 business days.
The invoice shows the net amount, the VAT rate applied (if any), and the total. Whether VAT is itemized at zero or at a local rate depends on the buyer's country and B2B vs B2C status:
- EU business buyers with a valid VAT ID: invoice issued under reverse charge mechanism (VAT at 0%, you account for VAT in your home country).
- UK business buyers: similar reverse charge treatment for B2B; consumer purchases include any UK VAT obligation in the displayed price.
- US business buyers: sales tax handling depends on the state; most US states don't tax digital telecom services to non-residents.
For specific VAT or tax questions about your jurisdiction, email support and we'll work through it with you.
How Eflexsim handles tax registration
Eflexsim is registered for tax/VAT collection in the jurisdictions where local rules require us to. Where we collect, it's already in the displayed price (no surprise additions). Where we don't collect, it's because the rules don't require us to or because the service falls outside the local tax scope.
This may change as we expand and as tax rules around digital services evolve. The principle stays the same: the price you see is the price you pay. If something changes, the checkout will reflect it transparently before you confirm.
What about credit card fees and FX?
These aren't taxes, but they're often confused with them.
Credit card processing fees are absorbed by Eflexsim. You don't see a separate "card fee" line on your bill.
Foreign exchange fees are charged by your bank, not us. If you pay $10 USD from a card in a different currency, your bank may add 1-3% FX. That's between you and your bank. See what currencies can I pay in.
3-D Secure / SCA authentication is a security step from your bank, not a fee. You're not charged for completing it.
When tax might show up later
A few edge cases where tax-like items might appear after purchase:
Business invoices with VAT itemized. If you request a VAT-itemized invoice, the invoice splits the displayed price into net + VAT, but the total stays the same.
Currency rounding on your bank statement. Your local-currency charge might be $10.03 or $9.97 after FX, even though the USD amount is exactly $10. This is rounding, not tax.
Refunds with rate fluctuation. A refund processed in USD converts back to your local currency at the rate of the refund date, which may differ slightly from the rate of your original purchase. Again, this is FX, not tax.
Receipts and invoices
Every successful purchase generates a receipt emailed to the address you used at checkout. The receipt shows:
- Plan purchased (country, data amount, validity).
- Date and time of purchase.
- Order ID.
- Payment method (last 4 digits of card or wallet name).
- Total in USD.

Frequently asked questions
QIs the displayed price the final price?
Yes, for personal travelers. No taxes or fees are added at checkout beyond what's already in the displayed price.
QCan I get a VAT-itemized invoice?
Yes. Email support@eflexsim.com with your order number and VAT ID. We issue the invoice in PDF within 1-2 business days.
QDo US travelers pay sales tax on Eflexsim?
For most US travelers buying eSIMs for international travel, no sales tax is added. State-by-state rules vary; if anything is required, it's already in the displayed price.
QIs Eflexsim VAT-registered in the EU?
Where required, yes. Eflexsim handles tax registration so you don't have to track it. Business buyers with a VAT ID can still request reverse-charge invoicing.
QDoes the price change if I'm logged in vs guest checkout?
No. Same price for everyone for the same plan at the same time. Account holders get access to wallet credit and order history but pay the same plan price.
QWhat if I'm buying for a country with very high VAT rates (like Hungary at 27%)?
The price still doesn't change at checkout. Where local VAT applies to us, it's already in the displayed price. Your local rate doesn't get added on top.
QCan I get a refund of taxes paid?
If you're refunded on an unused eSIM, the full amount charged is refunded (USD). Tax handling on the refund follows the same logic as the original purchase. See refund policy.
